Join Us!
Many of the current Triangle members will tell you that their decision to join was the best decision they have made since coming to the University of Illinois. You might be skeptical; you might think that's going a little too far. But when you stop to think about just why these people are saying these things, it starts to make a good deal of sense. Friendships. A home on campus. Connections. Academic resources. The chance to have some fun. The supportive atmosphere. Did we mention great friendships?
The friendships formed as a member of Triangle are, above all, the most notable benefit of joining. Imagine coming to a huge university of nearly 30,000 undergraduate students and feeling like a stranger, totally overwhelmed. Then imagine becoming a part of a group of close friends in almost no time. Watch the apparent size of the University shrink before your eyes and your comfort level skyrocket. It can happen and it has happened - just ask any member of Triangle.
All of us are engineering, architecture, or science majors. Our house boasts a huge collection of study information on almost any course that any type of engineer, architect, or scientist will take. Additionally, you can expect to find people who have taken the classes you are currently in and who know about each curriculum and the options within it. That means you don't sit and stare at your textbook when you don't understand something. You don't rely on piles of confusing information and 20-minute once-a-semester sessions with your advisor to figure out what direction you want to take in your field of study. You have better options than these. And when you get out of school, you have a solid education and fraternity connections - you can join the ranks of current members and alumni, who work at companies such as Honda, Wilson Sporting Goods, Kimberly Clark, Macintosh, IBM, Cognis Corporation, Keymat Technologies (London, England), Philips, and Motorola.
Being both professional and social, Triangle enjoys many great events each semester - parties, brotherhood events, sorority exchanges, football block, and more. At our parties, we have had bands such as The Red Hot Valentines, Roscoe Plush, Swizzle Tree, Stone Carnival, and Spitalfield. Our brotherhood events include our twice-a-year "Hicks vs. Slicks" football and softball games, rock-climbing, sailing, trips to Chicago for baseball, basketball, and hockey games, and more. We strive to help our members create a balance between the demands and obligations we face and the fun experiences that we consider a necessary part of college.
Triangle members recognize the importance of helping those who are less fortunate than us, so we host an annual philanthropy event to raise money for foundations such as "A Woman's Fund" - a local fund that is dedicated to preventing violence against women and to helping those women who have been victims of violence. We have also teamed up with Alpha Omega Epsilon sorority to Trick or Treat for canned goods to donate to local homeless shelters. In addition to our own events, Triangle members are regulars in those of other houses on campus - Delta Gamma's Anchor Splash, Alpha Phi's King of Hearts, Kappa Kappa Gamma's Kappatat, Alpha Omicron Pi's Run for the Roses, and many more.
Some of our members are also involved outside of Triangle in activities such as Illini Pride, Orange Krush, Illini Paintball Warriors, Illectric Illini, Marching Illini, Kolusis, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Eta Kappa Nu (an Electrical and Computer Engineering honor society), Tau Beta Pi (a College of Engineering honor society), and IEEE.
Balance. Working hard now in anticipation of future success. Enjoying life now. Friendships. Great memories that will last forever. The ability to bump any college experience up to the "A+" level. Triangle is all of these things. For more information, please contact Rajinder Sodhi, Vice President of Recruitment.
